Michael Gene Sullivan
Juggling Words: Doing Three Things at Once

Don’t miss out on this class with the head writer of the SF Mime Troupe! Imagine watching a play filed with half-hearted action, phony character development and boring exposition, and realizing the play is yours. I hate that! This class will teach you what I learned the hard way: to juggle three things at once—plot, character and action—with grace and style. By the end of the class, each writer will have the tools to complete a new script or approach a draft from a fresh angle.

Apr. 12 – May 17
Sundays, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Lee Blessing
Afraid To Write that Play? Good.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to study with Pulitzer Prize nominee Lee Blessing. This four-day intensive will examine the usefulness of identifying our own worst fears and using them to create a play. On the principle that truly ambitious works in any genre result from penetrating the most fiercely-guarded areas of a writer’s psyche, we will seek to gain mastery over what terrifies us and convert it into drama. Each writer will be asked to generate a short piece based on these explorations, to be read and responded to in class.

May 21 – 24
Thursday, 6 – 9 p.m.
Friday, 6 – 9 p.m.
Saturday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Sunday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
