      ODYSSEY STORYTELLING presents The Body

     Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30) at the Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St .   Tucson, Arizona

      This month’s theme is The Body ~ Scars, birthmarks, heart-attacks. Gaining 15 pounds. Losing 15 pounds. Lifts, tucks, reductions. Arthritis, hamstrings, opposable thumbs.   It feels good, and we forget about it.   It hurts and it’s all we think about.   You look just like your mother.  That zit, on prom night.   We live with it, we love with it, in many ways it’s all we’ve got.    Stories about the body.   Curated by Adam Hostetter .

      (AND on May 17 10 a.m. noon, (stories repeated) at the Center for Inquiry meeting, University Medical Center, Duval Auditorium, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. ~ $6 (students free), free parking in garage

      Families You Know stories are about expanding and diversifying the definition of family.    You’ll hear six different ten-minute personal stories from members of the LGBT Wingspan (www.wingspan.org) community about their unique lives and families.    Storytellers are
actor, Merlin Spillers; pediatrician, Drew Cronyn; mother, Melissa Griebel; youth activist Matthew Jones; finance director, Peter Powers-Lake and more!

      WINGSPAN’s Families You Know™  (www.familiesyouknow.com) web based public education campaign is an opportunity for the LGBT community, along with straight allies, to openly and honestly discuss what family means to each of us.

      THE CENTER FOR INQUIRY (www.centerforinquiry.net) is a global federation committed to science, reason, free inquiry, secularism, and planetary ethics.   Meet in the UMC cafeteria afterwards and continue exchanges over lunch and then come for the afternoon panel at 1:30, Separate and Not Equal:  Social Justice for the LGBT community.
