Support Pan Left, Make the Community Much Richer
June 22, 2009
Dear Randy,
Back in my 20s, I decided when I started feeling old I would just keep it to myself. It’s a boring conversation. Who cares if I’m not the bright young darling in the room or if I pause to let someone else move the heavy box. I can just color my hair.
It’s all relative. For the last 15 years, I’ve watched an old friend age with the grace I sometimes lack. Think innovative. . . fresh. . . forward thinking. . . collaborative. . . breathtaking. . . community focused. Good lookin’.
Timeless.
Remember that media activism thing I thought was life changing? When we were just 20, Jeff Imig and I started a nonprofit because we didn’t know any better. Well, Pan Left Productions turns 15 this year. I know what you’re thinking: “Gosh. I remember when Pan Left was just this high!”
Pan Left is growing up. The cutting edge collective has spent 15 years documenting everything our mainstream media overlooked and more. Border rights, human rights, civil rights. Art in the abstract, art in life. The work is even more important now, as media and news as we know it is falling like a house of cards.
Help Pan Left stay alive and kicking. I will. I’ve pledged $5,000 in 2009 to help kick-off our 15th Anniversary Campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 in celebration of 15 years of amazing work. If we can get to this goal, it’s a fortune for Pan Left. Are you up to it? A gift of any size is a lifeline for this invaluable organization.
Consider this:
A small fortune for Pan Left … a community much richer.
I wonder now whether reminiscing about youth and complaining about age are simply one in the same. I do feel wiser as I get older but at 20, I must have been wise beyond my years. Pan Left was life changing indeed. I’ll be optimistic and hope that my nostalgia will tug on your heart (purse) strings.
Thank you so very much for your ongoing generosity,
Lisa Wise
