On Monday, November 16th at The Royal Sun Cafe at 1003 N. Stone Avenue in Tucson, Alicja will be the featured reader at the National Writers Union reading and open mic event. I will be reading from my newly published book Looking at the World Twice; Essays & Poems on Identity, Belonging and Otherness. www.lookingattheworldtwice.com
The book is the winner of the 2009 National Indie Excellence Book Award in the Short Story Nonfiction category. She wrote many of these essays from the perspective of the “other European” (from Eastern Europe) and “other American” (an immigrant).
The evening will start at 5:30 or so, for those who want to have dinner. The reading followed by the open mic will start around 6:15.
The Royal Sun Cafe is just south of the Best Western hotel at the northwest corner of 1st Street and Stone Avenue. There is parking between the cafe and the motel that can be accessed from Stone; there is additional parking behind the cafe, which can be accessed from 1st Street. Hope to see you there!
Also, this coming Saturday and Sunday ( November 14and 15th) her studio located at 2707 North Orchard Avenue will be a part of the Tucson Open Studio event sponsored by Tucson Pima Arts Council in which artists will open their studios to the public from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. Please feel welcomed to visit my studio and bring your friends, family, and good mood!
