Meet local photographer/filmmaker KARL W. HOFFMAN at the Tucson premiere of the new documentary LIVING ON THE BORDER, featuring a pre-film reception on the Loft patio and a Q&A with the director following the movie!
This multimedia documentary is an in-depth look at what really happened here on the American/ Mexican border at the turn of this century. LIVING ON THE BORDER details a small segment of our world. This is not just a documentary about the plight of the illegal migrant, the vanishing of the last American Frontier, or the collateral damage caused by our own actions but because of its vast intricacies, the border debacle is a mirror for all of humanity to peer into themselves and to show each other how we humans continually act. Full of information that the mainstream media won’t tell you, LIVING ON THE BORDER is a real eye opener.
As a freelance photographer for many major publications, Karl Hoffman has extensively covered both sides of the American/ Mexican border for the past four years, on horseback, foot and 4×4, alone with his Nikon. Interacting with the local environment has given him a unique view of the intense collateral damage caused by the tightening of the border.
Hoffman’s video documentary and lectures have gained international recognition and are used as teaching aids at several major American universities that have large departments dedicated to international immigration and border studies. It is also a permanent inclusion in the New Mexico University Library.
