Two short films by City High School (Tucson) students in the Pan Left City Works class As We See It have been selected to screen at the Arizona International Film Festival as a part of the Indie Youth: Films BY Kids program. A Look Around (3 min.) by Lucy Petty and Karlene Barreras explores a girl’s recognition of what may be passing her by. It features advanced editing techniques and a powerful script that won Best Screenplay at the 2010 MLK Film Projéct. Music is Life (3 min.) by Dylon Druerr, Tyler Barker and Joquin Marques shows how music inspires teens. It won Best Music at the 2010 MLK Film Projét.
The Film BY Kids program features 17 shorts by youth from Arizona, Massachusetts and Texas. Congratulations to the students whose shorts were selected for the program and thanks to all the Pan Left supporters who donated to the class through the Arizona School Tax Credit Program that made this year’s class possible!
