SOLDIERING/ DREAMS OF WARTIMES

Soldiering / Dreams of Wartimes is a recent collaboration between visual artist Noah Saterstrom and poet Anne Waldman. The exhibit consists of a 45’ frieze of oil paintings, a continuous narrative painted by Saterstrom in response to and in conjunction with Waldman’s text. The single work will span the walls of the Poetry Center Library and will be accompanied by printed excerpts from the text. Noah Saterstrom is a visual artist and independent curator and lecturer. Recent solo exhibitions of his paintings and drawings include Bisbee, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Glasgow, and Asheville, North Carolina.

Noah Saterstrom works as a visual artist and independent curator and lecturer. Recent solo exhibitions of his paintings and drawings include Bisbee, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Glasgow, and Asheville, North Carolina. He frequently collaborates with writers on text/image works and recent publications include The Denver Quarterly, Tarpaulin Sky, Black Warrior Review, Drunken Boat, and others. He is founder and curator of the online arts quarterly Trickhouse. He lives in Tucson, where he is involved with Casa Libre. His recent collaboration with poet Anne Waldman is on exhibit at the UA Poetry Center this fall.
Anne Waldman is a poet, professor, performer, cultural activist, and the author of many books and small press editions of poetry and poetics, including MANATEE/HUMANITY, THE IOVIS TRILOGY: COLORS IN THE MECHANISM OF CONCEALMENT, IN THE ROOM OF NEVER GRIEVE: NEW AND SELECTED POEMS 185-2003, and FAST-SPEAKING WOMAN. She is also the editor of a number of anthologies, including THE PORTABLE BEAT READER, co-edited with ed. Ann Charters. With Allen Ginsberg, she co-founded of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, in 1974.
