Poetry Off the Page: Poetry via Filmic Encounters
The Poetry Center’s third international symposium, Poetry off the Page, will feature screenings of original works by poets and writers working in film, video and various forms of the moving image. An inspiring dialogue is sure to arise from the screening that will in turn create more inquiry.
Consider:
• How can the use of images reflect traditional poetic craft techniques in the filmic space?
• How does the use of character become amplified, elided, or eroded in the short poemfilm, and how does that inform the overall direction of the piece?
• What are some issues that arise when confronting the role of text in a poemfilm?
• What do you learn form your work with the moving images forms that you can take directly to your “on the page” writing?
