The Writers Studio- 25th anniversary of The Writers Studio on May 11, 2012 at The Players Club

The Writers Studio- 25th anniversary of The Writers Studio on May 11, 2012 at The Players Club

“Celebrating 25 years of helping writers reach their potential”

THE WRITERS STUDIO CELEBRATES ITS 25th ANNIVERSARY THIS FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2012 with an event that has been a year in planning. We are using this joyous occasion to shine a light on the important and fine work of Global Goods Partners, an organization started by two highly educated American women, to sell the crafts created by women in impoverished and often oppressive political climates such as Afganistan and Peru. The financial freedom resulting from the women’s ability to start small independent businesses enables them to pursue education and healthcare for themselves and their children, and to change the course of history. The Writers Studio commissioned these personal stories, and arranged to have them translated and edited. This Friday evening, these first person accounts will be read by writers such as Jean Valentine, Julie Otsuka, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Edward Hirsch, among others.

Please join us as we celebrate The Writers Studio’s 25 years of helping writers of all levels find creative fulfillment. I’m sure you can understand why we’ve chosen to publicize the work of Global Goods Partners on this happy occasion, to celebrate what’s best in all of us.

THE DETAILS:
The Writers Studio celebrates our 25th Anniversary with personal stories of women artisans in the Global South, who work with Global Goods Partners. Featuring readings by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jill Bialosky, Edward Hirsch, Julie Otsuka, Philip Schultz, Jean Valentine, and remarks by Rangina Hamidi. Book signing and party to follow. Friday, May 11, 2012 at 7PM. The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, New York. Suggested donation, $10 at the door.

Please feel free to invite anyone you feel may be interested in this event.
