“EVERY ART INVOLVES COPYING YOUR BETTERS IN ORDER TO LEARN FROM THEM, and then trying to do it your own way and better. You can never “sound like” another writer no matter how hard you try. You can only, for better or worse, sound like yourself.” – Lesley Dormen, a Writers Studio student and teacher, who sold her first book of linked stories to Simon and Schuster for 6-figures.
