Come meet the folks who bring you indie films from all over the world. Find out what films have been selected to screen at the 2012 Festival. Watch more films from the AZ 100 Indie Film collection. And enjoy the free activities of 2nd Saturday’s downtown.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FILM FESTIVAL
Are you interested in behind-the-scenes work for the 2012 Arizona International Film Festival? Volunteers are needed for event planning, ticket-taking, merchandise, office work, design, promotions and much more.
Come down to The Screening Room at 127 East Congress for a volunteer orientation meeting on Saturdays, March 17, 24, and 31 at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, March 21 at 6:00 p.m. You only have to attend ONE meeting which lasts ONE hour.

The 2012 Film Festival will take place April 13-29 at Reel Arts 6 at Crossroads, The Screening Room, Desert View Theater, and other venues throughout Tucson and southern Arizona. Over 100 films representing 18 countries will be featured in Arizona’s longest running and largest Festival.

Shorts Reign at AzFilmFest
During this week, you have the rare opportunity of screening 36 short films from Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Peru, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Film festivals are one of the few venues where you can enjoy such an amazing array of short films. You can watch collection of global shorts on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:00pm or short documentaries on Wednesday, April 6 2011 at 6:00pm or edgy shorts on Friday, April 8 at 9:00pm. All at The Screening Room where shorts reign!!
SLEEPING DOGS is a Staff Pick of the Week
Since being accepted to the Festival, the staff has loved saying SCHLAFENDE HUNDE. The filmmakers in Hamburg, Germany have been tweeting and face-booking their excitement of being part of the Arizona International Film Festival. Beautifully shot in black and white, this psychological thriller explores the complicated relationship of a father and son against a tension-filled background of death, loss, and a criminal past. Come see SCHLAFENDE HUNDE on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 8:00pm at The Screening Room.
Filmmakers Search For Answers
In a heartfelt ode to his agrarian roots, filmmaker Tim Plester journeys from the English village green to the killing fields of The Somme, in search of a connection with the much-maligned native dance traditions that run deep in his blood. Way Of The Morris, a delightful documentary, plays on Thursday, April 7, 6:00pm at The Screening Room. Included in the program is Leap Before You Look, a filmmaker’s quest to find out how people decide to have kids.
