Please join us for a lively conversation and showcase about theatrical aesthetics.
With Lauren Gunderson leading a conversation with Mark Jackson, Abi Basch and Members of kInDeRdEuTsCh pRoJeKtS, Laura Hope and JC Lee.
A reception will follow the symposium.
How and/or when does form take focus over content (and visa versa)? In what ways do they inform each other, and how does that impact the audience’s perception? What comes first and how do playwrights determine the governing logic of their plays when exploring newly charted territory in theatrical structure?
Through conversations and debates, we will address the elements of form that are wedded to content, and we will attempt to understand the enigma: “Which came first, the form or the content?”
Playwright Lauren Gunderson [LINK TO http://www.laurengunderson.com (EXIT, PURSUED BY BEAR, EMILIE) moderates this symposium and discusses her thoughts. Playwrights will also discuss their work in these terms as well as provide video presentations depicting their processes.
