Playwrights Foundation- Suggestions for Great Theater
This month our Picks for Tix features new plays with themes from across the globe. The Bay Area has always been a mixing ground for artists and audiences alike, with so many productions opening and closing this weekend, there is no need to sit alone.
Still running are: Andrew Saito’s Krispy Kritters in the Scarlett Night, Lauren Gunderson’s By And By (both PF Resident Playwrights); and Central Works’ Medea Hypothesis by Marian Berges with Jan Zvaifler in the title role!
Join your fellow arts patrons this month at some truly wonderful performances in the Bay. What a way to kick off the summer! (oh and don’t forget to check out the Bay Area Playwrights Festival!)
With joy,

The stakes couldn’t be higher in this contemporary retelling of a Chinese fairytale. A sister journies to the underworld to retrieve a lost brother. In a fantastical landscape ruled by a brother/sister duo, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy and the Monkey King, she must face the ultimate question: If there is no love without pain, what does it mean to love?

The first U.S. production of an international hit
TERMINUS
by Mark Rowe
Directed by Jon Tracy
Irish playwright Mark O’Rowe (Howie the Rookie) returns with his lyrical and lacerating poetic language to take you on a visceral ride from the bustling streets of Dublin to the skies above, then deep into the bowels of the earth, as three people are ripped from their daily lives and thrown into a fantastical world of singing serial killers, avenging angels, and lovesick demons.

This time around, the milieu is the seediest fortune-telling den in Chinatown, where our intrepid team will show us how mystics do that voodoo they do so well. There are so many songs and stories that they can’t all fit into one evening, so the audience chooses the set list, playing games and winning prizes, and it’s never the same show twice.
If you ATTEND ALL FOUR NIGHTS this weekend, you will receive a ticket to Impact’s 7th Annual Full Houses poker tournament the very next Saturday!
Odds are you won’t see the same show twice. Do you feel lucky?
“Fantastically sublime!”—Daily Cal
