Faced with the knowledge that her child will not survive birth, a woman struggles against a Chilean political system that forbids abortion. This film explores the pain women experience when the only option is to seek an alternative solution.

 

Cinematographer Alex Montoya will answer questions after the screening.

It’s a daredevil ballet, a tradition arising out of female trick riders during the Mexican Revolution.  In striking costumes, teams of eight women ride sidesaddle while weaving an elaborate pattern in the rodeo ring. Follow Las Azaleas as they celebrate their family traditions, vying to represent the USA at the National Charro Championships in Mexico.

 

Q&A session with filmmakers follows screening.

Luke, a young man with autism, takes the advice of his grandfather and proceeds on a quest to “live his own life” and “be a man.” This comedy follows Luke as he seeks both a job and girlfriend despite the judgments of his dysfunctional relatives and the outside world.

We need your vote for the funniest comedy shorts! Help us select what comedy shorts should be screened during the 2013 Arizona International Film Festival. Anyone with a sense of humor is invited to participate. Free admissionthis Saturday at the Screening Room, 127 East Congress, downtown.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FEST 22 

Are you interested in behind-the-scenes work for the 2013 Arizona International Film Festival? Volunteers are needed for event planning, ticket-taking, merchandise, office work, design, promotions, and much more! Come to the Screening Room, 127 East Congress, for a volunteer orientation meeting: Saturday, March 2, 16, and 30 at 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. You only have to attend ONE meeting, which will last for one hour.

We are looking for social media savvy volunteers to help promote the 2013 Fest in April! This is a great opportunity to get involved with your community and see some great films from around the world.
