AtticRep FORUM is a public meeting place, on stage and on the web, for open discussion where our community and artists converge and join the conversation around social, intellectual, and artistic issues.

Actor Renee Garvens has spent the last several years interviewing San Antonians affected by the ravages of breast cancer. These first-hand accounts of living, dying, surviving and coping with the disease come together to form an intimate portrait and a very personal platform for dialogue. This work in progress interweaves the stories of the people she has interviewed with her own journey with the disease.

Developed in the style of Augusto Boal’s community-based theatre philosophies, this year’s Forum is the next step in the evolution of AtticRep’s Forum Theatre Project.

Open dialogues will follow each presentation and dontations are encouraged for WINGS, a non-profit breast cancer treatment organization

AtticRep FORUM is AtticRep’s public meeting place, on stage and on the web, for open discussion where our community and artists converge and join the conversation around social, intellectual, and artistic issues. The FORUM continues to explore the relationship between performance and other media by hosting the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema.

Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema @ AtticRep screenings include works of dance cinema artists from around the world: Australia, England, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, as well as works from San Antonio. Sans Souci presents dance film shorts that are not simply documentation of dance performance. Instead, the films present a dynamic journey via a subjective, artistic lens. Shorts range in length from 2 to 30 minutes with different programs screened on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The Friday and Saturday audience will have the opportunity to rank their favorite videos. The audience favorites will be screened on Sunday, January 22nd. Meaning “no worries” in French, Sans Souci was conceived in 2003 when CU dance instructor Michelle Ellsworth and Brandi Mathis sat at a trailer in Boulder’s Sans Souci Mobile Home Park musing about the pleasures of viewing and creating dance for the screen. Soon after, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and The University of Colorado, as well as artists Ana Baer and Hamel Bloom added their support to produce the festival. Today, the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema has become internationally recognized and is presented at ATLAS Institute, University of Colorado at Boulder.
